To wear or not to wear?

To wear or not to wear?

The collection of brooches is a demanding thing. It is one thing to find, receive, store, find information. It’s interesting, very educational and develops a lot of skills. Here, at least the ability to fit numerous boxes into the interior, not to mention the ability to quickly find the desired item in them)

Wearing your own collection is another matter. Do not lock them in the darkness of the vaults, rejoicing in the possession. And give them a new life, with a new hostess, in new historical realities.

Just think about this plot! Once upon a time there was a brooch, for example, in the 1920s. And it was worn by, say, a European lady of advanced age, she could be as much as 28. This brooch saw London at the beginning of the century, and the wardrobe was appropriate, and the pastime of this lady was respectable and very boring. This brooch even saw the whiskers of the hostess’s husband, it’s scary to imagine.

Or here’s another brooch. USA, 50s. Housewife or careerist? Standing by the stove or standing for women’s rights? Patriarchal family or feminist rally? Or maybe bored housewife decided to write a book, and then fame fell upon her! Or maybe she asked her husband to go to a book club, but he didn’t let her go … Or maybe she didn’t even try anything of what she dreamed of, was she afraid to tell about her wishes?

There can be countless scenarios! I will immortalize the current one here, year 2021. Beloved family and successful career, transatlantic flights and leisurely walks. Cooking as a hobby and rest from work, career as a way of self-realization. Financial independence and sincere dedication to the interests of the family. Now my brooches are looking into a new world in which there is no need to make choices by sacrificing your dreams! Now you can and should choose everything that makes a woman happy. Well, how can these brooches lie in boxes? They must live with me, see a new world, surprise and be surprised!
